Y is that govt is sponsoring for the Haj Commitee.
When India has so many religions...Y not Govt sponsor for all of them or stop sponsoring money for Haj pilgrims
Many Hindu's wish to go to KASI,GAYA,Chirstians like to go to jerusalem...Y Govt is not helping them.
Wish NDTV will take up this issue.

Saudi Arabia itself subsidizes millions of dollars for Hajj every year to all Muslims of theworld. Moreover, India's Hajj subsidy is not given to either the Hajis or to Saudi Arabia, but to India's government owned airline Air India. By citing "Hajj Subsidy", Air India thenextracts a number of concessions from the Saudi Airport authorities that are not availableto other commercial airlines. Furthermore, while the Haj subsidy is about Rs. 110-148crores [Rs 1.1 to 1.48 Billion] , the government spends Rs. 450 crores [Rs 4.5 Billion] onthe Hindu festival of Kumbh Mela. The Haj subsidy will dwarf if all the governmentsubsidies to various Hindu rituals and festivals were taken into account. It is also a shamethat the BJP (a non-secular, Hindutva party), while in power, failed to remove the Hajsubsidy despite the lack of opposition to it from the Muslim community. Will the VHPsupport the removal of the Kumbh Mela subsidy?

Dear Jolly, Your comparing Kumbh Mela expenses and Haj subsidy is misplaced because Indian Government spends similarly for Muslim and Christian festivals in India like, say, at Ajmer and Maramon - because the expenses are largely for civil infrastructure and security In any case the Hajj pilgrimage is not in India but in Saudi Arabia and that country spends a substantial amount on it. Which is to say, every country spends on its festivals and social gatherings. But the Indian Government spending for a pilgrimage to a foreign country is in a different league. The BJP while in power could have done away with Hajj subsidy but I think they increased the subsidy. Hypocrisy has become the bane of all political parties.
