To be or not to be....
Today I saw two blogs - one commenting about the prolific blogs posted by a few, much of it being in the domain of religion etc., about the need to clean the blog space etc. and another one pleading for encouraging bloggers.
This reminded me of a story read by me in my younger days.
A painter painted two identical portraits. He kept one of them in a public place in the city, kept a can of red paint and a small brush by its side and left a message asking passers-by to mark the parts of the portrait which they considered was GOOD.
The painter returned in the evening to find that the entire portrait was marked by red paint by passers-by.
The next day, he kept the second identical portrait in the same place with a can of blue paint, a brush and a message, this time asking the passers-by to mark those parts of the portrait which they considered as BAD.
To his surprise, when he came back in the evening, he found that this time also the entire portrait was marked by blue colour.
Well, human nature is unpredictable, yet very predictable. At one level, people are like sheep - they tend to move by following whoever takes the lead, they tend to flow with the tide. After all, why should anyone take pains to disagree and argue?
At another level, ironically, people generally like to disagree with others and refute, criticise everything more out of an urge to show their superiority than because of their conviction about what they are arguing for.
Philosophically speaking, such divergences in human behaviour, the element of uncertainty or unpredictability, surely adds charm to an otherwise monotonous life.
So let's all keep blogging, as long as it costs only intellectually, not financially or socially.

Dear Listen to Me, thank you for excellent story, good metaphor for todays blogspace. Most bloggies who are writing are belonging second category, with entrench positions and rigid ideology. Some are reading and say nothing, more are reading but nothing to say.
