Mr. Kalam has already reportedly expressed his desire not to seek a second term as President and wants to settle down in Chennai and teach to engineering students. Please allow him to do that peacefully. Also, Seshans who can stay in the system and reform it are rare comets in the Indian horizon who appear may be once in a few decades.

If not Dr. Kalam, then someone as distinguished (and we have innumerable such men and women) but not those who have been in politics. There are, again, honourable and distinguished men and women in politics, but let the President's post be reserved for dynamic people who have served the nation other than through politics. We need an apolitical president. Someone like Dr. Narayana Murthy or Dr.Vandana Shiva. Why, indeed, let us have a woman as our President.
