Conversion away from Hinduism
Recent religious mass conversions in Nagpur where some 30,000 adopted Buddhism and Christianity. We as Hindus need to introspect why people are abandoning Hindusim. Most prominently are the Untouchability, Respectability and lack of oppurtunities. Some of them are getting converted for monetary benefits. Looking at Broader perspective is concern of the day. Unless the weaker and oppressed benefit from both economic boom and social level equality, Hinduism loses its believers and one day Hinduism will be extinct.

Conversions from Hinduism to Buddhism is no conversion at all because Buddhism is part of the Hindu culture. There is no escaping from that. Christianity, by and by, will see the sensibility of there being many ways to God and then it will take on the trappings of Hinduism. There is no escape from this either. But for it to happen faster, the hold of the Churches on Christians must weaken. It would when Christians understand the teachings of Christ as distinct from the teachings of the Church. Till this happens, Hindus have to prevent all conversions to Christianity among the weaker sections of Hindus because it is conversion by exploitation. Islam is a problem because theirs is a closed society. Hindus, and others, have to go on the offensive and ‘convert’ Muslims to secularism and democracy. Once that happens, Islam would convert itself to Sufism and that’s being in the same wavelength as Hinduism.
