Friday, November 10, 2006 long live idol worship ----- religious harmony this blog aims at promoting religious harmony. i saw a speech by zakir naik. he is muslim scholar. all his speech contained bashing against idol worship. he told that hinduism itself does not permit idol worship. hinduism only says that god does nnot have a form. he is beyond the world of names and forms. let us try to understand. islam according to me appears to be an anti idol worship movement rather than a religion if you ask who is ganesha i can show you. if you ask who is rama i can show you. if you ask who is shiva i can show you. now cn anyone show me who is allah. is he a man or a woman. if you worship a formless god then what exactly do you worship? do you worship vaccum? is your god then a mere vacuum. you cannot think of something without form. when i say laddu, immediately its form comes to your mind. so if your allah does not have any form then you do not think of anything when you pray and that means that you are fooling everyone. And who gave you the divine right to tell that mohammed is the last and final messenger. how do you know that? how can you say that the koran is the last revelation krishna says "whosoever worships me through whatsoever form, he reaches me" why cant you be broad minded. i guess there is a reason to this obsession with not showing the face. it started from mohammed himself, then it continued through his caliphs and today the jehadis themselves take great pride in hiding their faces. what wrong did mohammed do to hide his face? why was he afraid of showing his face? the same thing you are doing to women. this practise of hiding the fce becomes an effective instrument of terror. All the idols are man made...how can u say that is God...can the creator and created be the same? How can positive and negative be the same? How can east and west be the same at the same time? Think again..use logic...there are idols and temples of filmstars...can they be called God... who knows another 100 years from now they may be worshipped as God! If you worship something that is separate from you, you are an idol worshiper. Hinduism accepts idol worship but Hinduism teaches, through Advaita, to go beyond all separations and merge into the oneness. This is the supreme teaching of the Vedas. So when Dr. Zakir Naik sees that there is no idol worship in the Vedas, he is seeing right. Therefore I would suggest to him to abandon the idol-worshiping Islam and become a Hindu to start the journey to freedom from idol worhsip through Advaita and the Vedas.
