Wednesday, December 13, 2006 CULTURAL TERRORISM I would like to bring to the notice of readers, the brutal and inhuman incident of "Moral policing" by the self styled Saviours of the Hindu culture in a small town called Muzafferpur or Muzaffernagar. I saw this on TV this afternoon wherein the so called, Hindu activists or shall I say "Hooligans" raided a restaurant in the town and targeted young couples, Boys and Girls who were having food there.Their crime-that they were sharing the table with their opposite sex.The boys were then singled out, Humiliated and mercilessly beaten up in front of the cameras by these cultural terrorists.Only a few months back there was another incident in the same city where one of the boys who had come to a restaurant with some girls was caught, beaten up,stripped naked and paraded in public by the so called champions of Indian culture.The police and the media remained a mute spectator.Perhaps they gave a silent consent to this unjust criminal act.The poor boy was not at all a criminal but perhaps he did'nt have an affluent father. These "CULTURAL Goondas" didnt seem to have any sort of conscience' rather they were pretending like heroes before the Camera. And they were justifying there act by saying that mingling of sexes was against the Hindu Culture.They also said that the teenaged boys were trying to take the girls for a ride and that the boys had the intention of having sex, even if it might have been a sex with mutual consent. Perhaps these So called, Hindu activists, have also got clairvoyent power and they can know whats in the minds of Youngsters.Such incidents are not just happening only in the so called "BIMARU" states.Only two days back in a park in Ahmedabad,unmarried couples were beaten up by the members of an organisation formed by the some "Babu Bajrangi" a self styled saviour of the Patel caste. In the the modern world the most accepted and respected thing is freedom be it national or individual.Decent People generally dont interfere in the personal matters of others.Such interference is considered very indecent in the western societies.But in India I dont understand why, such INDECENT interference in someone's personal life is tolerated especially if its done in the name of culture. The Banners and slogans of culture and relegion have become a cover for the execution of criminal instincts. To the Question whether someone should go for a date or not,whether he or she should have premarital sex or not,the individual should have the liberty to choose his or her, own Answer.Its not the business of others. Why can't we come out of this primitive and regressive mindset of dictating others what to do and what not to. Let the individual decide how he or she should live. Let them decide what to do or what not to, but for themselves alone, not for others. Nobody should be allowed to transgress the the limits of personal space and curb the freedom of other human beings. A society is a Congregation of Individuals. It is made up of the individuals by the individuals,AND FOR THE INDIVIDUALS. THE CULTURAL VALUE OF THE SOCIETY IS THE COLLECTIVE VALUE OF THE INDIVIDUAL MINDS. AND OFCOURSE IT'S SUBJECT TO CHANGE FROM TIME TO TIME AND FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION AND FROM PERSON TO PERSON. MY GRANDFATHER MIGHT HAVE HAD HIS OWN VIEWS AND VALUES IN LIFE, BUT I HAVE MY OWN. I CANNOT BE FORCED TO ACCEPT AND IMPLEMENT MY GRANDPA'S VALUES IN MY LIFE. WHY SHOULD I BE SUBJECTED TO SUCH GENETIC SLAVERY.I HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE LIFE ACCORDING TO MY OWN INDIVIDUAL CULTURE AND ITS NOT BINDING ON ME TO LIVE ACCORDING TO THE CULTURE BORROWED FROM THE ANCESTORS.FREEDOM FROM FOREIGN RULE IS NOT ENOUGH,WE INDIANS, SHOULD HAVE FREEDOM FROM OUR OWN OUTDATED AND PRIMITIVE MINDSETS.THE ANCIENT "SANATAN DHARMA" OF INDIA ACCEPTS AND RECOGNISES THE FREEDOM OF EVERY LIVING BEING.THE USE OF FORCE IS A SIN IN HINDUISM.SO THESE SO CALLED "SAVIOURS OF HINDUISM" ARE ACTUALLY THE AGENTS OF EVIL AND ARE BIG ENEMIES OF HINDUISM. CERTAINLY, IF A SOCIETY DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THE NON-VIOLENT INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM AND RIGHTS, THEN FOR SURE, ITS A "BASTARD SOCIETY" As of yet the Media has not done much to stop this Cultural Policing.The video coverage of the incident has only further humilited the victims and has given undue egoistic publicity to the criminals dressed in the cultural CLOAK.Not only this, the TV channel also gave these maniacs, the chance to verbally justify themselves.THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD GIVE THE POLICE "SHOOT AT SIGHT ORDERS TO KILL THE SCOUNDRELS WHO ARE FOUND ATTACKING AND TRANSGRESSING THE INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS OF ANY YOUNGSTER IN THE NAME OF CULTURE AND RELEGION.THEY DESERVE NO MERCY AT ALL. We have many champions of "indian culture" and morality on this site as well, constantly harping about the greatness that was, while living in denial about the present that is. We should end this menace of 'moral policing'. We must have a liberal, enlightened and moral society. No one should take law into their hands. The Muzafferpur incident must be analysed, the culprits caught and punished and the police pulled up for their inaction.
