LETTER TO AN INDIAN SOLDIER
Dear Soldier,
We are glad that you have decided to join Indian Armed Forces as a Soldier. Our records indicate that a few leading BPO MNCs were trying to recruit you for a Call Center Assignment but you refused and instead opted for a career with Armed Forces in India.
We are pleasantly surprised with your choice and though we doubt your common sense, welcome to Indian Armed Forces.
As a Soldier, you will be entitled to your monthly salary, rations, and accommodation in selected postings. Your Remuneration will not be enough but if you remain alive and rise in your Career, there will be “opportunities” to make extra money which will come handy over a period of time. As a young recruit, you will be sent to Kashmir, North East or at VIP Security in New Delhi.
You will be given SLR Rifles and other DRDO Small Arms for close combat. The Insurgents will be using MP-5, AK-47 and AK-56 with Check Pistols and German Mousers. Your Arms & Ammunition will be only 50% heavier than the one used by the Insurgents. But you will get used to it over a period of time & suffer with Arthritis only after 40 years of your age.
You will be selectively given some bullet proof vests which will be procured through “Special Tenders”. You will not be allowed to “doubt” the quality of the vests and make a hue and cry about possible kick backs and poor quality. We have full faith in the strength of your chests and “believe” that you will be brave enough to face bullets from all and sundry.
You will be kept at -40*c in Siachen and at 50*c in Rajasthan Desert. You will live under constant fear of death, depression of living away from your dear ones and loneliness which will haunt you day in and day out.
It is possible that you may be prompted to commit suicide under pressure or due to your depression. You might also be tempted to kill your fellow Soldiers or Officers when pushed to extreme. But don’t worry. We shall not leave any stone unturned in ensuring that you come out “tough and rugged” inside or outside a box.
After every 15 years, you will serve in a “grand” campaign like Kargil, 62, 65, 71 wars or the campaign in Sri Lanka. You will try to defend or attack an enemy, which will take heavy causalities on your battalion. There will be many, who will be blown up, crippled for life or simply die with the experience but those who survive, might get an opportunity to watch their bravery turned into a Romantic Saga by Bollywood.
You will see your favorite actors like Amitabh, Sunny Deol and others playing your role, conquering the same peaks that you conquered with your blood and beautiful heroines playing your beau. Unlike your ending, the movies will give the lesson of “peace, forgiveness and neighborly love” and spread the vision of Universal Brotherhood.
You will serve and protect our Champions of Democracy in Delhi. You will serve Ministers, MPs and Indian Parliament. You will try to stop possible Suicide bombers and others who will try to kill the most corrupt and criminal souls in the Country and in this process, should you get killed, you will be assured of some News Coverage, some angry blogs and some odd medals by the Government.
The attackers, if caught might or might not be punished. The Punishment will depend upon their caste, religion and approaching elections. We are a Secular Democratic thus we shall not be able to hang any Terrorist especially during or before Elections.
So, the only opportunity for you to get justice for your comrades will be the 2nd time when the same terrorist/s will attack. Please kill all attackers for captured men will not be punished. They will be either foreign nationals or ordinary Indians who unlike you will be protected by our Constitution, Laws, Communists, Congress & Intellectuals.
In the light of all such revelations, we shall advice you not to stop any car outside the PM Residence or in front of Parliament and not to scale the peaks of Kargil once they are captured by the enemy.
It will not be worth dieing for since the dead are either buried or lay in pyres- they neither become the Prime Ministers nor do they write “The God of Small Things”.
Jai Hind

hiits disheartening sometimes to know that politics fade away contributions of a soldier.but thats not going to lower my moral and that of my coursemates and many of those high spirited soldiers from doing our duty.v will still continue to do what s expected of us with the highest order of discipline.

Our Army Chief General J.J. Singh put his foot down when Congress tried its vote bank politics in the Army. His inner voice spoke and what an Indian voice! But our Prime Minister M.M. Singh listens to the Italian inner voice. I think BJP should invite our great General to join the BJP after he retires and nominate him as the Prime-Ministerial candidate. The majority of Indians would then know which voice to vote for - the Indian or Italian.
