Hypocrisy, perfunctory approach of media
I do not know how to describe my reaction when I saw some TV channels showing interview with the son of Moninder Singh, prime suspect (one of the, if not the) in the Noida serial killings: is it sadness, a sense of outrage, a sense of pity, amusement, anger?
To all intent and purposes, even the investigation is still in its rudimentary, nascent stage. And the person interviewed is blabbering about his family's demand for a fair trial! In fact public at large is wondering why the culprits are being subjected to the nicety and sophistication of lie-detector tests, brain mapping etc. while very often it is seen and known that police resort to third degree methods to obtain confessions from petty criminals for far less serious crimes.
What has taken place in Noida is spine chilling, ruthless, cannibalistic, heinous, horrendous, barbarian killings of innocent children and youngsters, unbecoming of anyone who wants to call himself a human being. What does the media want to achieve by interviewing the kin of the culprits at this stage of investigations / criminal proceedings and giving such interview wide publicity? Do they want to bring in cheap sentimentalism and play on the emotional cards of unsuspecting, gullible public to sweep the case under the carpet even before the investigations start?
What could be the vested interest of the media in doing this? Is there no need for media to behave in a responsible manner?

We have to learn to live with a media bent on satiating a public with an unquenchable thirst for sensationalism.
