Whats so great about being religious?
Is it important to be religious? I am not sure.
What does religion mean to u? Humanity, benevolence, tolerance ahem.. that is according to texts( and these preachings have been portended), but unfortunately what is that comes indirectly due to stringent following of religion?? Do I need to answer that one, is'nt it disgusting and displeasing to even think that the idea of religion which had originated due to the need to prescribe stoicism for masses, led to increased discontent and barbarism in most of the parts of the world.
we have ample examples to quote in India- the killing of Graham Staines, the Gujarat riotes and many more in the past. The Britons succeeded in dividing India on the basis of religion and ruled for 200 years. Look at the most of the Islamic countries, they are always murdering and killing due to religion. And still there are lots of caliginious secrets religion has done.
If this is what religion stands for, is it not better to be areligious.
I have chosen to be one, and I think thats the best thing I can do for my nation, as an Indian. And I am sure on that.
World's most successful people, be it Warren Buffet or Bill Gates dont give a damn to religion! When religion is not responsible for growth, success or any well being in life, is it not better to shed that pretense?
I worry when the huge population of our country will realise that? What has religion brought to us except misery since times immemorial.... arent the wrongs the religion has done pretty sentient and apparent?
For us to be a power to reckon with, we need to get rid of our shortcomings and religious strifes are one big major deterrent, and has been one since long time. We need to ponder over our past mistakes, and take a pledge not to make them happen again and again in the times to come...to segue on the path of prosperity.

Religions are teachings that take you to your divinity. Religions are not for any social solutions. They are for individual emancipation - emancipation from our weaknesses. Those who benefit by religious teachings are blessed. But those who see religions as merely identity tags are missing a great deal.
